Sources and criteria

News is read from the public RSS feeds of the sources below and refreshed every 30 minutes.

The history of each day comes from Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0 licence). When the date recorded in Wikidata matches, we show “✓ Wikidata”, along with the number of languages Wikipedia covers the topic in.

Weather

Weather forecast, from the national weather service wherever the licence allows it: Switzerland, MeteoSwiss (open data, CC BY 4.0); Germany, Deutscher Wetterdienst (CC BY 4.0), via Bright Sky; United States, National Weather Service (public domain). In the other countries, and when the national service does not respond: MET Norway (Norwegian Meteorological Institute, the one behind Yr), licence CC BY 4.0. The icons are Balusco’s own (MeteoSwiss’s are not free to reuse). Sunrise and sunset: U.S. Naval Observatory (USNO).

Weather warnings: MeteoAlarm (EUMETNET; official warnings from IPMA, AEMET, MeteoSwiss, Météo-France and DWD), Met Office (United Kingdom; Open Government Licence v3.0), National Weather Service (United States) and INMET (Brazil). Updated every 5 minutes; delays relative to the sources are possible.
