What we process

Visiting the site: the server temporarily logs the IP address, requested page and browser for security and operation. These logs are deleted after at most 14 days. We do no profiling.

Visit statistics: we use Umami to know how many people visit each page. It sets no cookies, does not store IP addresses and does not track anyone across sites; it only records the page, the referring site, the browser and device type, the language and the country (derived from the IP, which is not stored). Data is only aggregated. Legal basis: legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Newsletter: if you subscribe, we store your email address, chosen country and the dates of subscription and confirmation. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). The subscription is only active after you confirm via the emailed link. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email; your address is then deleted.

Location: on the Moon and Weather pages, the “Use my location” button asks your browser for your location (only if you allow it). Coordinates are rounded to about 10 km and, rounded like this, sent to the U.S. Naval Observatory (USNO) and Open-Meteo to calculate the sun, moon and tides, and, for the weather forecast, to MET Norway (Norwegian Meteorological Institute) or, on the United States and Germany pages, to the National Weather Service and Bright Sky (Deutscher Wetterdienst data). Balusco does not store them, but they are part of the page address and may therefore stay in the server logs for up to 14 days, like any page visited.

Sharing

We do not sell data. Emails are sent through an email service provider engaged for that purpose. Content from Wikipedia and news sources is fetched by our server: your browser does not contact them when reading our pages unless you click a link.

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and to withdraw consent. Contact us at the address above. You may also complain to a supervisory authority, such as the ICO in the UK or the FDPIC in Switzerland.

International transfers

If a provider is located outside the EEA, UK or Switzerland, transfers rely on an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.
